Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor
I believe that when people with substance use disorders are treated with respect, kindness and positivity they have a greater potential to make meaningful changes in their lives. I seek to provide a safe, non-judgmental environment for learning and growth. My key interests in counseling include the science of substance use disorder and recovery, anti-stigma and human rights for people with use disorders, mindfulness, motivational interviewing and personal resilience. No one approach is right for every person in recovery. I believe that knowledge, flexibility, choices and safety help each individual find a perspective and path that works for her or him.
I received my Bachelor’s degree in History. After graduation, I worked in occupational health and safety and in environmental management compliance for the construction industry for a number of years. I began working at Club Recovery in 2010 in administration and insurance coordination. My experiences working at a treatment program, led me to seek and complete my addiction studies certificate at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities and become a licensed alcohol and drug counselor.
I am committed to providing my clients with the safety, knowledge and skills needed to transform their lives in the way they desire. I recognize the risk that individuals take in reaching out for help, and work to honor that whenever I meet with someone who has bravely begun the journey.
